Spark Shutter
WEDDING VENUES

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 8, 2026

SparkShutter (“SparkShutter,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates sparkshutter.com (the “Site”), a wedding venue discovery directory that helps couples find venues and connects them with venues they’re interested in. SparkShutter is owned and operated by Marc Anderson in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable Canadian privacy laws.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us directly. When you submit an inquiry, contact form, or other form on the Site, we collect the information you provide. Depending on the form, this may include:

  • Your name
  • Email address and phone number
  • Your wedding date or date range
  • Estimated guest count, budget, or other event details
  • Any message or comments you choose to include

Information from venue owners. If you represent a venue and contact us, claim a listing, or ask to be listed, we collect your name, business name, role, contact details, and any information you provide about your venue.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information, such as:

  • Pages you view, how long you stay, and how you navigate the Site
  • How you interact with pages, including clicks, scrolling, and mouse movements
  • The website or search that referred you to us
  • Device type, browser type, operating system, and screen size
  • Approximate location (city or region level) derived from your IP address
  • Date and time of your visit

We do not knowingly collect sensitive information (such as health, financial, or government ID information), and we ask that you not include it in any form or message.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • Send your venue inquiry to the venue you contacted, so they can reply to you directly
  • Follow up with you about an inquiry you submitted, if needed (for example, to confirm it was received or to help if a venue hasn’t responded)
  • Respond to questions, corrections, suggestions, and other messages you send us
  • Communicate with venue owners about their listings and our services
  • Understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve our content, pages, and features
  • Keep the Site secure and prevent spam, abuse, and fraud
  • Comply with legal obligations

We will only send you marketing or promotional emails if you have given us your consent to do so, in accordance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You can unsubscribe from any such email at any time using the link in the message.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the following situations:

With the venue you contact. When you submit an inquiry about a specific venue, your inquiry details are shared with that venue so they can respond to you. Once a venue receives your information, its use of that information is governed by the venue’s own privacy practices, not this policy.

With service providers. We use trusted third-party providers to operate the Site, including website hosting, video hosting, data backup, email delivery, and analytics. These providers process information on our behalf and only as needed to provide their services to us.

For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of SparkShutter, our users, or others.

Business transfers. If SparkShutter is sold, merged, or transferred, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

4. Cookies and Analytics

We use the following analytics tools to understand how visitors use the Site:

  • Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC, which uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your visits. Google’s use of this data is described in Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.
  • Microsoft Clarity, provided by Microsoft Corporation, which uses cookies and similar technologies to capture how visitors interact with our pages, including clicks, scrolling, and mouse movements, through heatmaps and session replays. This helps us find and fix confusing or broken parts of the Site. Clarity is configured to mask text you type into forms. Microsoft’s use of this data is described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • Independent Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that runs on our own website and does not use cookies.

Our video player and other embedded content may also use cookies or similar technologies needed to deliver that content.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. If you block cookies, the Site will still work, though some features may not function as intended.

5. Where Your Information Is Stored

SparkShutter is based in Canada, but some of our service providers (including hosting, video, and analytics providers such as Google and Microsoft) may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Information stored in another country may be subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access by its courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities.

6. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, such as delivering and following up on your inquiry, maintaining records of our communications with venues, and meeting legal or business requirements. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

7. How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including secure (HTTPS) connections, reputable hosting providers, and limited access to stored data. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Withdraw your consent to our use of your information (subject to legal or contractual limits), or ask us to delete it
  • Unsubscribe from any marketing emails at any time

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the timeframes required by law.

9. Venue Listings

Our venue pages contain business information about wedding venues, such as names, addresses, photos, videos, and descriptions of facilities and services. If you represent a venue and want information on your listing updated, corrected, or removed, please contact us.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for adults planning weddings and for venue businesses. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Third-Party Websites

The Site may link to venue websites, social media pages, and other third-party sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted on the Site. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.

13. Contact Us

If you have questions, concerns, or requests about this Privacy Policy or your personal information, please contact us through our Contact page at sparkshutter.com/contact/.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca.
